Metadata Librarian (Lane Medical Library, School of Medicine, Stanford University)
The metadata librarian focuses on the creation and maintenance of metadata representing Lane’s digital, physical, and virtual collections of resources (ca. 350K records). This position provides metadata management expertise and procedural/workflow stability while monitoring external developments and changing needs to assess and anticipate needed changes and enhancements. While cognizant of established practice and the necessity of maintaining data coherence, the metadata librarian investigates and applies new technologies and approaches to support novel applications in the broader context of Lane’s digital and programmatic initiatives.

Curator of Historical Collections and Services
The Duke University Medical Center Library and Archives is recruiting for the position of curator. The curator administers, develops, and preserves the history of medicine collections, interprets those collections, and actively promotes their use not only within the medical center and the university, but in the broader scholarly community as well. This position is also responsible for planning and implementing new programs and services to enhance the collection’s visibility and strengthen services to users. Additional roles include coordinating the work of support staff, working as a primary partner in setting and achieving goals of the Duke University Medical Center Library and Archives, and serving as a member of the library and archive’s planning and management groups.

The Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Libraries invite applications and nominations for the position education and research librarian at the Tompkins-McCaw Library. The VCU Libraries seek an energetic, knowledgeable, and technologically capable individual who will support the teaching, research, and outreach missions of the VCU Libraries. The successful candidate will join a culturally and academically diverse faculty of the highest caliber. An ALA-accredited graduate degree is required. Experience teaching to a variety of audience levels, ability to communicate effectively, and experience searching relevant resources such as PubMed, Web of Science, and CINAHL is preferred. We are seeking a degreed medical librarian who is proficient in searching medical databases, business databases, Internet, etc.
Position Requirements: Master’s degree in library science (ALA-accredited program preferred). Professional experience searching medical literature databases (e.g., MEDLINE, EMBASE, Cochrane Library). Must demonstrate adaptability to change, confidence in a fast-paced organization, willingness to learn and search beyond traditional resources, and an in-depth awareness of current and emerging issues associated with evidence-based medicine, database search obstacles, and the design of clinical studies.

Electronic Services Librarian
The University of Tennessee Health Science Center library is accepting applications for an electronic services librarian. This nontenure-track faculty appointment is responsible for coordinating the library’s information technology systems and services (library computer hardware and software) and managing the integrated library system (ILS).
